Bucharest – Peles Castle – Bran Castle – Brasov
Today we drive further to Brasov, one of the most visited places in Romania.
Along the way we visit the Peles Castle located in Sinaia. Peles Castle is a masterpiece of German new-Renaissance architecture, considered by many one of the most stunning castles in Europe. Its 160 rooms are adorned with the finest examples of European art, Murano crystal chandeliers, German stained-glass windows and Cordoba leather-covered walls. Until 1947 it was a summer residence for the royal family. Peles Castle was the first European castle to have electricity, it even has its own power plant. It has 160 rooms and each room is decorated in a different style or theme.
There is a Concert Hall, Music Room (India), Turkish Salon, Great Salon (Italy),Council Room (Switzerland), Moor Hall, and so much more. The Royal Library has a secret door and the castle’s 60-seat Theater, with royal box, showed the first movie projection in Romania in 1906. After the visits we stop in Sinaia, a picturesque mountain resort in Prahova River valley.
Further we visit Bran Castle, one of the most important touristic attraction in Romania, due to its links with the legend of Dracula. The landscape in this area is a harmonious mixture of different landforms, high mountains, plateaus, the curvy shapes carved by the rivers along their banks and the valleys that cross the land. The castle was built between 1377 and 1388. We will visit the castle and pass through its narrow winding stairways that lead through some 60 timbered rooms, many connected by underground passages, which house collections of furniture, weapons and armor dating from the 14th to the 19th centuries. The castle overlooks the picturesque village of Bran, which offers an open-air Ethnographic Museum consisting of old local-style village houses complete with furniture, household objects and costumes.
We stroll around the old Town Hall Square where we admire colorfully painted and ornately trimmed baroque structures. Visit the Black Church, the largest gothic church in Romania. Its interior is impressive and well-kept, and it houses one of the largest organs in Eastern Europe. We will walk in one of the narrowest streets in Europe – The Rope Street, which is approximately 120 cm (4 feet) wide;

Brasov – Sighisoara – Sibiu
This morning we visit Sighisoara, an old town whose origin goes back to the Roman times
Sighisoara is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved medieval towns in Europe.
Designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, this perfectly intact 16th century gem with nine towers, cobbled streets, burgher houses and ornate churches rivals the historic streets of Old Prague or Vienna.
During the city tour of Sighisoara we will see the Church on the Hill with its 500-year-old frescoes, the 13th century Venetian House and the Church of the Dominican Monastery, the 14th century Clock Tower and the Sighisoara’s citadel built in the 12th century.
An interesting visit is also The Vlad Dracul House, located in the Citadel Square, close to the Clock Tower. This ocher-colored house is the place where Vlad Tepes, the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s famous Dracula, was born in 1431 and lived with his father, Vlad Dracul.
Arriving in Sibiu, we enjoy the guided tour, including the city Highlights: Craftsmen’s Square, Huet Square and Evangelical Church, Bridge of Lies, Goldsmith Square, Great Square, Orthodox Cathedral, Roman Catholic Church, City Hall Tower. Sibiu was the largest and wealthiest of the seven walled citadels* built in the 12th century by German settlers known as Transylvanian Saxons. The city is divided in two sections, the Upper town, home to most of Sibiu’s historic sights, and the Lower town, lined with colorful houses on cobblestone streets and bounded by imposing city walls and defense towers overlooking the river Cibin. Sibiu – Sibiel – Alba Iulia – Turda Salt Mine – Cluj-Napoca
This morning we visit the village of Sibiel, one of the 18 traditional Romanian villages with a special cultural, architectural & historical heritage. It has winding cobblestone roads and typical rustic houses along the river, that make Sibiel a charming village.
Further we visit the city of Alba Iulia, one of the oldest settlements in Romania. Reaching the old town we stroll along the wide, tree-lined streets of the Habsburg citadel, one of the most impressive in Europe, to discover the historical, cultural and architectural attractions of Alba Iulia: the Roman Catholic Cathedral, the Batthyaneum Library, the Orthodox Cathedral of the Reunification, the Union Hall, the Apor Palace, the Princely Palace, and the University of Alba Iulia.
The final stop for today is Turda Salt Mine, one of the most spectacular tourist destinations in the world. It is the underground formation that people created in a special natural environment, in the depths of Transylvania, digging into the salt deposited after the evaporation of the sea that covered the entire region millions of years ago. Now, the salt from Turda Salt Mine could cover the salt requirement for the entire Planet for 60 years.
In the evening we reach the largest city in Transylvania, Cluj-Napoca, proclaimed the city of arts, where we spend the overnight.

Cluj Napoca – Baile Felix
Full day in Cluj Napoca, where we take a city tour of Cluj-Napoca. We start with the old Benedictine monastery and explore the birth houses of Mathias Corvinus (king of Hungary) and Stephan Bocskai (ruler of Transylvania and a great promoter of the religious reformation), the old market square and the many guilds and craftsmen houses.
Next, visit the city’s main square, with some of its most important monuments: the catholic church of St. Michael (the second largest Gothic building between Vienna and Istanbul), the statue of Mathias Corvinus, the unique mirror street (where all houses were built symmetrically on both sides of the street) and the majestic Baroque palace of the Bannfy family.
Walk to the headquarters of the Babeş-Bolyai University, first established in the 16th century. Today it is one of Europe’s largest multicultural universities, with almost 60,000 students. Crossing through the university, you’ll reach the former Franciscan monastery, famous both for its architecture and its almost perfect acoustics.
After lunch time we transfer to Baile Felix, the largest health resort in Romania, established in the 18th century. The thermal waters here are very rich in oligo minerals, are supplemented by sapropelic mud. This natural combination has proven helpful in easing the effects of rheumatism and some paralysis, as well as gynecological afflictions and nervous disorders. We spend the overnight in this spa town.

Baile Felix – Budapest
Today we will drive from about 4 hours towards the capital city of Hungary, Budapest. On arrival we will have a free afternoon in Budapest, to relax from the trip. In the afternoon we enjoy a river cruise through the Danube where we see the most fascinating sights of the historical city of Budapest. Dinner and overnight in Budapest.

Guided tour of Budapest, where we visit the Parliament & the old town
During the tour we see the highlights of our city: Heroes’ Square/Millenary Monument, Vajdahunyad Castle, Andrássy Boulevard, Opera House, St. Stephen’s Basilica-interior visit, House of Parliament, panorama-view from Gellért Hill, Castle Quarter, Matthias Church-interior visit, panorama view from the Fishermen’s Bastion. Visit the Market Hall, possibilities for shopping Hungaricums.
Special lunch in the castle, with folk show live music. Visit of the castle overlooking the city from above.
Further we spend the afternoon at the New York Coffee – Considered as the most beautiful coffee in the world.

Budapest – Excursion to Szentendre – Budapest
Today we travel to Szentendre, a charming Baroque town with cobble stone streets, with an armada of art galleries, quaint little museums, cafes, and excellent shopping.
We will walk along the main shopping street of Szentendre where you may wish to visit the Margit Kovacs Ceramic Museum, which houses a unique collection of the late artist’s best creations. Unlike most ceramic galleries, the Kovacs collection offers mostly earthen figures and genres that bring the rural traditions of Hungary to life, full of humor and candid observations. After the museum visit, enjoy the excellent shopping, the many galleries and quaint cafes before returning to Budapest.
